Produce wholesale credit risk policies and contributes into set up of thresholds for Russia wholesale operations that ensure the realisation of Bank's wholesale risk appetite.
Ensure that wholesale credit risk analytics/modeling is fit for purpose and meets business and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that Wholesale risk systems are fit for purpose for the business.
Customers / Key Working Relationships.
Act as the key contact for the businesses to ensure that they understand and implement policies and risk appetite.
Ensure that there is clear communication of sector appetite at all times.
Leadership & Teamwork.
Lead country Wholesale Credit Risk team including succession planning, talent management, performance management and improving employee engagement.
Train and coach the WR Team to upgrade their skills and be more efficient in their roles.
Establish and maintain a positive atmosphere of high business/ethical value, high performance and drive to self-training and development.
Operational Effectiveness, Control and Monitoring.
Monitor the implementation of credit risk policies and thresholds at a country level to ensure the realisation of Russian subsidiary's wholesale risk appetite.
Maintain cost discipline, rationalise and consolidate expenses within Wholesale Credit team.
Ensure that the effectiveness of Internal processes and procedures.
Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Ensure wholesale credit monitoring/ oversight is effective.
In close collaboration with EU Loan Management Unit manage "difficult" counterparty names.
Close cooperation with Country Compliance to ensure full compliance with Global Standards.

Monitoring of concentration within the wholesale portfolio.
Supporting business development strategies whilst maintaining acceptable risk standards.
Personal decision making on transactions, and being able to make robust/tough decisions which may be contrary to the business wishes.
Maintaining good working relationships with businesses to ensure policies and standards are consistently applied.
Analysing transactional and portfolio trends and taking action to mitigate risks.
Leading and directing the country wholesale risk team so that it consistently achieves its objectives.
Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority).
The risk team is responsible for credit approvals within local approval authorities, update of local policies, the interface with the region's approval teams, portfolio management.
The risk team is also responsible for providing clear recommendations on the facilities that require Regional and Group Risk approvals.
Direct reporting to Country CRO and functional reporting line to the Regional Head of Corporate Approvals. Regular interaction with EU and Global.
Risk is key part of the function's day to day activities.
The jobholder is expected to work with considerable autonomy at times dealing with major issues for which there is no precedent or clear cut solution, whilst still being able to provide judgment and clear direction.
Where items of major consequence are involved, reference is made to the Country Chief Risk Officer and Regional Heads of Wholesale and Market Risk and Corporate Approvals, when needed.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- University degree, Professional Qualification and/or relevant post graduate qualification.
- Excellent decision making based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Good communicator (oral and written).
- Able to operate effectively against sometimes on uncertain and on unfamiliar ground.
- Forward looking and balanced decision making approach.
- Thorough understanding of advanced risk management techniques across wholesale portfolio.
- Ability to assess risk trends both internally and externally.
- Strong ability to develop and motivate Risk employees in order that the very best are attracted and retained in the Risk function.
